Goal 1: The LSSU Library Media Specialists will increase collaboration with faculty to integrate information and technology skills within the academic content the students are pursuing.

1. Identify information and technology skills that LSSU LMs will teach.

a. (Hopefully) a VSLA standards and curriculum plan.
b. The AASL Standards for the 21st century learner.
c. The ISTE National Educational Technology Standards.
d. VITA meetings
a. Since we deal with a wide range of ages, each building would need it's own skill list.
b. We are waiting for the VSLA to write an information skill curriculum. At some point, do we write a LSSU document based on the AASL Standards?

c. Should we have another meeting in March or April after we have worked on this a while?
2. Develop a planning sheet for faculty.


a. We will need to make building specific sheets will be needed, but a master sheet would be helpful.
b. Teachers do not have time to get in to the library.
c. Since librarians so not have assistants, it is difficult for them to leave library to meet with teachers.
d. Teachers are unaware of the fact that we have goals for the students. They see us as tools to further their goals alone.

3. Get curriculum maps from subject teachers so that we can plan collaborative lessons.

a. Inability to get the curriculum maps- do all teachers have them?
b. Usually the best time to give this to teachers is at the beginning of the year or semester.

4. Communicate with principal and faculty about our plan for collaboration and skills instruction.


a. Will we have a goal and curriculum together in time?
b. Will we be given time at the inservice?
a. We will develop goals and skills lists .
b. These will be posted on our websites.
c. These will be presented to faculty groups...hopefully and a preschool inservice next fall???
5. Present quick information skills and technology tips to faculty at faculty meetings and inservice.
